London, 29 August 2024, London, UK: pladis, the leading global snacking company behind iconic brands including McVitie’s, GODIVA, Jacob’s, Carr’s and Ülker, launched its global Life Transitions policy on 1 July 2024 to support colleagues through their transitional moments of parenthood.
The pledge will roll out over the next 12 months to all 16,000 colleagues across the 20 countries in which pladis operates. Tailored to local market legislation, this package offers a minimum of 36 weeks leave, with 18 weeks fully paid, for main carers, as well as a paid phased return schedule. Secondary carers receive four weeks paid leave and a phased return schedule.
For colleagues going through the major life change of becoming a parent, there are moments of joy, but pladis recognises there can also be complications or sadness. The pledge is designed to support parents in all these circumstances.
The global pledge ensures colleagues in all regions, regardless of the market minimum, are entitled to equal standards of support during their most important life transitions, empowering them with the time and space to adjust to life as a parent.
pladis Chief Human Resources Officer Geraldine Fraser said: “I’m proud to introduce our global Life Transitions Pledge for our 16,000 colleagues across the 20 countries in which we operate. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our colleagues and their families during these life-changing moments. Striving to be an employer of choice for women and parents, we’re creating a happy and inclusive workplace for all our colleagues so they can bring their best every day.”
Dame Kelly Holmes, a member of pladis’ IDE Advisory board, commented: “Supporting employees through key life stages is not only crucial for their wellbeing but also for fostering a more inclusive and resilient workplace. I am thrilled to see pladis taking such a significant step with the launch of this policy for new parents. I believe it reflects the businesses commitment to valuing their people and sets a powerful example to the industry
