Reduce, replace and recycle
pladis is a proud member of the UK Plastics Pact, which unites businesses across the plastics value chain to work with both the UK Government and NGOs to combat waste. The initiative focuses on eliminating unnecessary single-use packaging and transition to 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable materials while increasing our use of recycled content to reduce reliance on ‘virgin plastics’.
In addition, we’ve partnered with several organisations, such as TerraCycle and the Flexible Plastic Fund in the UK, to increase the collection and recycling capacity of flexible plastics not yet collected at kerbside. As of November 2023, TerraCycle has collected and recycled a total of over 21 million wrappers and we’ve provided £221,000 to charity as part of the incentive scheme.
We’ve also joined the Flexible Packaging Fund, which supports retailers in the front of store collection of flexible packaging for recycling.
