We care deeply about the positive role we can play in our communities.
We call our approach ‘Make Happy, Be Happy’. It’s a powerful belief that began with our founder, Sabri Ülker: that every child deserves happiness. Over the years this belief has endured and evolved. We are now active in community projects all around the world, making a difference to those who need a helping hand.
Each year, on the third Thursday in November, pladis colleagues from Delhi to New York, from Istanbul to Lagos, from every part of our global business, give back to their communities. Whether it’s donations of children’s clothes and toys, fundraisers for local homeless shelters, donations to food banks or countless other activities. On ‘Make Happy, Be Happy Day’ every member of the Yildiz family joins in to create little moments of happiness that bring huge amounts of joy.
We’re privileged to provide food to people who struggle and go hungry. We support charities such as Meals & More by supplying biscuits and snacks to feed vulnerable children. During the COVID-19 pandemic we also made donations of more than 12 million packets of our snacks to people experiencing hardship, as well as to key workers and emergency service providers.
We supply biscuits to healthcare providers to help bring comfort to people who’ve suffered illness. In the UK we’re biscuit partner to the National Health Service. We work with them to raise public awareness about the importance of becoming a blood donor.
We know it’s challenging to get into the world of work, particularly for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We help students become acquainted with various professions and prepare them for entering the job market.
