pladis, McVitie’s and Mind attend UK Party conferences
Over the last few weeks, pladis UK and McVitie’s have worked with mental health charity, Mind, at both the Conservative and Labour Party Conferences, to encourage attendees to take a biscuit break. The pladis and Mind teams engaged with delegates, over a biscuit of course, on ways to manage mental health, using Mind’s brand new guide to looking after your mental health while working in politics.
McVitie’s has partnered with Mind for the past five years, starting a joint campaign in 2019 to ‘get the nation talking’, and to date, the McVitie’s partnership has helped the charity to deliver eight new ‘Time to Change’ hubs and train over 400 mental health champions.
pladis’ Global Corporate and Government Affairs Director, Ron Ridderbeekx, said: “We’ve been delighted with the response to our presence at the Party Conferences over the last few weeks.
“Our McVitie’s campaign to bring back the ‘Great British Biscuit Break’ revealed that 42% of workers are too busy to take the breaks they need during their working day to ensure good mental health. We decided, with Mind, that we needed to bring the campaign to the attention of politicians, policymakers and other businesses to discuss what they can do together to help”.
The team were even able to make a guest appearance on Times Radio, as part of their World Mental Health Day coverage, spreading Mind’s important mantra that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone.
