pladis showcases health-focussed innovation at FDF’s Celebrating Food and Nutrition Week

Global pladis news

Last week, Global Nutrition Manager, Gemma Ewen and Product Development Technologist and Nutritionist, Louisa Hesketh-Bream represented pladis at a UK parliamentary tasting event, as part of the Food and Drink Federation’s (FDF) Celebrating Food and Nutrition Week.

The theme of the event was 'Innovation for Healthier Diets,' and saw us join industry leaders, such as Ferrero, Mars Wrigley, Mondelez and Nestle, to showcase reformulation efforts and new product developments aimed at improving the nation’s diets. The event provided an ideal platform for us to showcase pladis’ dedication to health-focused innovation and underscore our role as a leader in the industry, with our team presenting our high-in-fibre GoAhead flapjacks, Fibre Jacks, and our GoAhead sub-brand, Wholistic, which has paved the way for benefit-led innovation with fibre and immune support playing a key role.

There is a great deal of complexity in changing recipes while still preserving the flavour and texture that consumers love. Achieving this delicate balance requires innovative technical solutions, which is why we invest heavily in understanding and applying both nutrition science and food technology. This is at the centre of our approach to creating healthier food options that do not compromise on taste and quality and ensure we continue to bring happiness with every bite.

Louisa said: “The event was an opportunity to showcase the variety of healthier options pladis are bringing to market. We highlighted how innovation and reformulation, with clear nutrition labelling, can support consumers to make informed choices when looking for healthier snacks. As well as celebrating success, it also gave food manufacturers the chance to engage with stakeholders and discuss how together, government and industry can help improve the health of the nation.”
