pladis delegates attend Global Summit of Women

“We must fix the system, not the people”.
Global pladis news

Just one of the many insights taken from the pladis colleagues who attended the 34th Global Summit of Women in Madrid last week.

They told us that while the acceptance and delivery of gender parity in the workplace varies from country to country, the challenges and solutions are broadly the same. But there are some key things we can all be considering.

  • To empower women we must make work life more accessible and flexible through implementation of policies inclusive of focus areas such as health, public safety, transportation, child care, and essential service. We can achieve this with the help of our allies.

  • Global events and platforms for women to connect, share ideas and solve common challenges, matter. They are vital to identifying and working on systemic issues that negatively impact the empowerment of women and they provide opportunities for women to engage with and be inspired by other successful female leaders.

  • The power of partnerships is essential to make things happen. The Global Summit of Women facilitated idea sharing, it unlocked creativity and it accelerated problem solving through working together.

As well as our female delegates attending, our CEO Salman Amin participated in a CEO panel event. Salman’s shared his view that it is important to continue fostering a growth mindset and to interact with each other with the purpose to learn something new every day. We must learn to listen to the evolving needs of our colleagues and build empathy with their individual circumstances if we are to deliver true inclusion, diversity and equality in the workplace.

Thank you to the organisers behind the Global Summit of Women and to Geraldine Fraser, Anisa Missaghi, Itohan Oyediran, Havvanna Tuba Yavuz, Shalini Sahi and Jean Gu for their leadership at pladis and commitment to gender parity.
