Former Great British Bake Off Champion and baker extraordinaire Frances Quinn has smashed the current world record, held by herself, for the world’s biggest Jaffa Cake.

The record-breaking creation took over 11 hours to complete from start to finish, using 16kg flour, 160 eggs, and 8kg of melted chocolate, and took a staggering 160 minutes to bake in the oven.

The delicious feat clocked in at a staggering 80kg, with a diameter of 175cm.

Frances tackled the delicious feat with alongside Will McMath, Product Development Specialist, and the McVitie’s team in celebration of 15th series of Britain’s Got Talent. Frances and her team of three helpers constructed the gigantic Jaffa Cake at the McVitie’s innovation bakery in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The whole process took over 12 hours to cook.

The new world record for the biggest Jaffa Cake ever baked is a staggering 79.9 kg heavier than the traditional Jaffa Cake found in shops.

The tasty treat was served to guests and crew at the Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals outside the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, producing over 300 servings. Stunned onlookers stopped to marvel at the giant creation and collect their own slice.

Frances wowed audiences with her impressive skills during the fourth season of Great British Bake Off in 2013 where she was crowned the winner after impressing judges with her skills.

Since leaving the show in 2013, the baker turned author has turned her eye to producing bespoke creations and in 2016 launched her own cookbook. She also runs a highly successful food and baking blog, which she regularly updates with recipes and tips for aspiring bakers.
